Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. – 1 John 3:15-17, Matthew 5.
I came across this juxtaposing scripture and wondered how Yeshua would ask us to hate mother and father to be his disciples but if we hate our brother again, we are murderer, hence we do not have eternal life. So, i went on to read 1 John 3: 17 further and saw “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?”
Leviticus 19:17
You must not harbor hatred against your brother in your heart. Directly rebuke your neighbor, so that you will not incur guilt on account of him.
Similarly, I read the story of Amnon in 2 Samuel 13:22 and Absalom, now Amnon tricked Absalom sister to committing incest and the bible says. “And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad, because he hated Amnon for disgracing his sister Tamar.” Since, Absalom never said a word good or bad to Amnon, nothing hateful came out of his mouth but in his heart, he hated Amnon for disgracing his sister Tamar, which led to him killing Amnon. When Absalom killed Amnon, it was revealed he hated his brother and thus murdered him. Therefore, Luke 12: 2-3 “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.” HOLDS.
When we come to God as its said Luke 14:26, we hate our sin this why we hate ourselves and thus people around us who practice this. John 3:20
Everyone who does evil hates the Light and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. So, when Job saith in Job 10:1 “I loathe my own life; I will give full vent to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.” He had already exposed the state of his heart to light. When Paul says in Romans 7: 20 -21 “20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.” He had exposed the state of his heart at that point, to seek help from Elohim. Once sin is exposed, it is confessed so hate in this form is akin to displeasure about something rather than a desire to murder or sin more. Proverbs 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
A hatred hidden in the heart speaks of murder and that spoken speaks of displeasure. Shalom.
