Today, we begin with the story of Elisha summoning a man from amongst the prophets and told him to dress well, take a flask of oil with him to Ramoth Gilead. When he gets there, he is to look for Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi and pour the flask of oil on his head “to declare him king of Israel as it was said of Elohim”. He did this swiftly and asked Jehu to destroy the house of Ahab to avenge the blood of his servant and those shed by Jezebel.
When the young prophet sent by Elisha made a prophecy on how Ahab, Jezebel and the people of Israel would end up on Vengeance. His fellow officers laughed and called the young prophet a Maniac (verse 11). Jehu replied that the prophets saying was not TRUE. (ironic). But his comrade persisted he tells them. So, Jehu repeated what the young prophet said, and they (his comrades) quickly took their cloak and spread them under him on the base step, proclaimed ‘Jehu is King’ with a trumpet.
So, Jehu’s men went to Joram (the king of Israel), who was on guard at Ramoth Gilead against Hazael, King of Aram. So as, Joram return to recover from his wounds the Arameans inflicted on him (resting), Ahaziah king of Israel went down to see him; and thus, Jehu came afterward to Joram who asked him if he came in peace (twice), but Jehu responded twice saying “what do you have to do with peace? fall in behind me’. Thus, Joram took two reporting servants had reacted, but neither were coming back. Therefore, the 3rd look-out (reporting servant) suggested it was Jehu the son of Nimshi – who drives like a maniac was there.
Joram the king of Israel and Azariah King of Judah rode out on their chariots to meet Jehu at the plot ground which belonged to Naboth. There Joram saw Jehu and asked him again, if he came in peace. But Jehu replied ‘as long as all idolatry and witchcraft of your mother (Joram mother) abounds, how can there be peace.
As Joram called out to his friend ‘treachery’, he was shot between his shoulders and slumped to death on the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. Jehu then recounts the word of hashem with Bikar and the prophecy against Ahab and his son saying ‘Yesterday, I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his son(s), declares Elohim, and I will surely make you pay for it on this plot of ground. The word of Elohim was fulfilled that day.
Azariah, king of Judah saw what happened and wanted to flee but was shot too and died at Megiddo, where he was trying to escape. Jehu had asked the soldier that knew what had happened in Jezreel to not let the story slip.
nevertheless, when Jehu entered the gate of Jezebels house, she asked Jehu, have you come in peace, Zimri, you murder of your masters. But Jehu gathered the Eunuch to his side and asked that she be thrown down from the window, where she arranged her hair. They threw her down and her blood splattered on the wall, there horses trampled her underfoot. Jehu asked that since she was a king’s daughter she should be buried. but they found nothing but her skull, feet and her hands. The word of Elijah the Tish bite was fulfilled. Jezebel was marred by DOGS beyond the point of recognition were no one could say this is Jezebel.
Rapport
The word of Elohim was Elohim was first fulfilled on Naboth’s field then the word of Elijah was fulfilled. So, the word of the LORD was first fulfilled then the word of the prophet (Son of Man), Elijah (translated as Elohim is Yahshua).
As we talked about the fulness in Yeshua and Elohim being different (Ephesians 4: 12-14, Ephesians 3:19) we see more disparity here.
Wickedness will not release those that practice it. Ecclesiastes 8:8 (As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it). As the heart of man is desperately wicked, but the practice of wickedness is evil. Jezebel had killed prophets, killed Naboth and it seemed she was getting away with it until Jehu was anointed. (It’s funny Elihu is translated God is he and Jehu is translated Yah is he).
Pointers
Wickedness in practice is likened to witchcraft.
Prophecy from Elohim and the prophet were fulfilled.
Yeshua avenges Naboth, Deuteronomy 32:35 – It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them. Hebrews 10:30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 2 Peter 2:3.
Sometimes, the people who speak about peace most times, are not at peace. (Jezebel asked do you come in peace, Joram her son asked the same question, but Jehu replied as long as witchcraft and idolatry abound, there can’t be peace).
The time of Jezebel as a ruler with Ahab must have been really terrible, for young prophets as they called them Maniacs ‘2 Kings 9 vs 11′ and thus because they called the young prophets’ maniacs, Jehu was also called a maniac too (‘2 Kings 9 vs 20).
The judgement on Jezebels family was swift and done in a day.
Jezebel seems to have known that despite Jehu trying to hide his acts in Jezreel, he had murdered her son and thus called Jehu “the murderer of his masters”.
This is the first place I’ve seen DOGS in the bible. (It seems the dogs knew Jezebel was wicked).
Acts 10 vs 34, 36. It is the good news of peace that comes through Christ Yahshua (Jehu – translated Yah is peace) brought peace to Israel.
Elohim appointed Yeshua, the judge of the living and the dead, so all prophecy testifies of him. (disparity seen again). Acts 10: 41-42. When Yeshua judged Naboth’s death and justified him through (Jehu – Yah is he), prophecy was fulfilled – testifying of Yah.
